International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Dick Pound told USA Today on Monday that the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo would be postponed due to the pandemic.

“On the basis of the information the IOC has, postponement has been decided,” Pound said in a phone interview. “The parameters going forward have not been determined, but the games are not going to start on July 24, that much I know.”

It will likely be moved to 2021, but no further information has been planned or released.

The IOC nor Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee has reported or confirmed officially of the postponement.
